If you’re a fan of new Saints Row games (or maybe even the old ones), it’s time for excitement. This week at PAX Volition announced a new Saints Row game. However, it isn’t “Saints Row 5”, “Saints Row: Remastered” or anything like that. It is a “Standalone Expansion”, as Volition calls it, called Gat Out of Hell.

As seen at the start of the trailer, the Saints are playing with a Ouija board. It ends up spelling the answer to their question, and this causes the Boss/The President/The Player to be sucked into hell from a portal opened behind them.. Two of the main Saints, Johnny Gat and Kinzie Kensington, decide to follow him into hell to free him. In the game you get to play as either Johnny Gat or Kinzie Kensington along with the apparent help of the main antagonist of Saints Row 2, Dane Vogel.

The city appears to be a hellish mix of the two cities from the Saints Row games: Stilwater and Steelport. It also will include wings for the player, new guns, dual-wielding knives, and more.

The official description is:

Volition’s biggest bad ass from the Third Street Saints is back, hotter than ever (literally!)

Johnny Gat is larger than life in Volition’s Saints Row®: Gat Out of Hell standalone expansion, announced today at the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX). In Gat Out of Hell players take on the role of Johnny Gat as he is sent into hell via a nefarious spirit board incident and left to combat demons, the horrors of the underworld (including prominent historical figures) and, of course, the Devil himself.

Now, I personally am very excited for the game. Unlike the gliding in Saints Row 4, you will now get WINGS that you can fly around with. Not only that, but I can’t wait for things like the dual-wield knives and the chair with miniguns strapped on. I’d also guess they’d bring back the Eviscerator gun from one of the SR4 DLCs (The eviscerator is a knife-shooting minigun.) This will also give the fans a chance to play as someone besides the boss for once, which I think will be very interesting. I also saw, while listening to the Volition panel, that they are going to be implementing a lot of Disney references including a MUSICAL NUMBER which I know will be hilarious!

The expansion is going to be released on January 27, 2015 for $19.95 on PC, Xbox One, PS4, PS3, and Xbox 360.
