About QubeTubers

QubeTubers is a humble little gaming community. Started in Oct 2010 as a branch off of the MineCraft Girl Edition livestreaming fanbase. It quickly became a community of like minded gamers who enjoyed making a difference, either by raising money for charity, raising awareness for IndieGames, and being there for each other through thick and thin. We love pulling together our resources to create a foundation, or venue if you will, for events such as the 48 Hour Minecraft Marathon for Child's Play.
Outside of hosting events we are streaming various games daily to our regular community, playing together on our mumble and on our SMP and other game servers. Feel free to stick around after the event and make some lasting friendships. See below for more information.

What is Child's Play?

" Here's The Deal Since 2003, we've set up and organized Child's Play, a game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in our network of over 70 hospitals worldwide. Over the years, you as a community have answered the call and come together to raise millions of dollars.
Child's Play works in two ways. With the help of hospital staff, we set up gift wish lists full of video games, toys, books, and other fun stuff for kids. By clicking on a hospital location on our map, you can view that hospital's wish list and send a gift.
Child's Play also receives cash donations throughout the year. With those cash donations, we purchase new consoles, peripherals, games, and more for hospitals and therapy facilities. These donations allow for children to enjoy age-appropriate entertainment, interact with their peers, friends, and family, and can provide vital distraction from an otherwise generally unpleasant experience." - Quote from Child's Play Website

FAQ

What is 'QubeTubers?'

QubeTubers is the name we branded our livestreaming and gaming community in Oct 2010 last year.

I heard Notch is going to shave his beard if you hit 75k, is this true?

Notch confirmed in an email (and on twitter) that if we hit 75k by Sept 2nd, he will shave his beard in a video. Remember, your donating for the kids---beardless notch is just an added bonus.

How can I help?

Loads of ways! You can help promote this event by creating YouTube Videos mentioning it, posting the events page to your facebook, reddit, twitter, etc.

How did you raise 35k last year?

Doing the same thing we did this year. Doing a 48 Hour Minecraft Marathon with a lot of support from a lot of amazing people. The event itself sort of became a perfect storm due to the 'hype' that was generated on Twitter and YouTube thanks to several videos posted by popular and not-as-well known YouTubers alike. Help make that happen again this year!

How can I join the IRC Chat?

To join the IRC chat without using the web-app or mibbit, which is recommended, open up your IRC Client of choice and use the following information; Server: irc.irchighway.net Channel: #QubeTubers

I'd like to help with future events!

Oh would you now? Well AFTER the event is over, we will be looking for some new blood in the way of streamers, youtubers, moderators, and codes and other such things. You needn't be popular or well known to help with the community! Once the event is at least one day over, stay in the #QubeTubers IRC room or here. We'll start doing interviews for streamer positions shortly after the events over as well as others.
